UPDATE: The new toll starts September 27, 2015.
It’s been a headline in the news for sometime – there’s new tolling happening on I-405 from Lynnwood through Bellevue. 17 Miles of roadway on the Eastside will get a lot more complicated.
The WSDOT website does a decent job of communicating what the express lanes are, why they are starting to toll them, the differences between the toll lanes on I-405 vs. SR 167, and even the overly complicated “dynamic toll rates”.
What hasn’t been covered is WHEN the new tolling will start.
Short answer: WSDOT doesn’t know yet.
Slightly longer answer: WSDOT is expecting to have more information by the 4th quarter of 2015.
Here’s a copy of an email response I received back after personally contacting WSDOT for this basic information:
